By Hoshino Sakura
While walking to my favourite bar
(you should never drink and drive a car)
I wondered if it is a crime
To do the write-up using rhyme?
Here a happy summer week –
The memories are ones to keep
The laughing yet is still not done
So let's continue with the fun:
It is not commonly known in Japan
That in the sixties, Manfred Mann
Amused the people of the town
By singing “Ha Ha Said The Clown".
I turn around Brilliant Corners
Summer’s getting a little warmer
When laughter rings around the houses
Brian Rix has lost his trousers.
The Gorillaz are looking very fine
They have a job and just in time
The uniform is a becoming pink
They’re working for Feel Good Inc.
Toots and The Maytals
Only drink whiskey and ales,
They tell me When I Laugh
And they order a half.
Who is that banging on the gates?
Goodness me – it’s the Soulmates.
I ask them if they want some tea
But Them a Laugh and Kiki
Bossa Nova is the dance of our pal
The truly groovy Wilson Simonal
Our favourite of his musical gems
Is Nem Vem Que Nao Tem.
Poor old bluesman Jerry McCain
Has a black eye and a lot of pain
A nice guy but a little rough
I met his mother – Gosh She is Tough
Little Leroy is quite the Joker
He always wants to play strip poker
The Milestones never want to play
They blush and quickly run away.
Our friend Tiruchi Loganathan
Likes to dress like superman.
His favourite food is strawberry jam
Which he calls Kalyana Samayal Sadham.
These two voices gruff and clear
Really are wonderful to hear
Ella and Louis together at last
A happy day - They All Laughed.
Spike Jones is a happy boy today
He is having a break and going away
He has packed a hamper with delicious things
And he is having a Holiday for Strings
These two gentlemen are different in size
We know them both as Morecambe and Wise
They Bring Me Sunshine on a cloudy day
And always have something funny to say.
