I see you got our message.
Were you followed? Are you sure? What route did you take? Does anyone know where you were going? When do they expect you back? How long do we have? Will anyone miss you?
Did you come alone? Amateur mistake. We didn't. Don't bother looking around. We're not that easy to spot. You need to know who you can trust in this world. You won't survive long if you don't.
We've been watching you. Every week you play and every week We watch. Did you really never wonder who all those quiet readers were? Sitting at the back, listening intently. Getting to know each one of you. Did you never question where all those missing friends went? They made our list. And this week, so did all of you.
A week of subversion. Oh, what they would do for our lists.
But don't worry. We'll keep you safe.
Did you ever wonder why we wear tinfoil hats? To protect our thoughts from prying minds? Childish nonsense. It's so you would smirk and laugh at us. We know We look ridiculous – mad, even. You probably never gave us a second thought. That's the way We like it.
Some of you have been wondering this week about “Them”. The Them who keep the Us down. But you've missed the key detail.
You see, it's not Us and Them. It's Us, You and Them. Always has been. Yes, We occasionally work with Them to keep You uninformed. Just like They undermine Us by discrediting Us amongst You. And You convince yourselves that you're always part of the Us. Happily going along with whichever faction best makes demons of their enemies. Led like sheep.
You may ask why I'm telling you this. As I have already said, you have proved yourselves subversive. You are in a position of flux. It is rare that so many people at once are given the option to choose their own path. But this is the choice expected of you.
You can retreat into your own little worlds once more and be happy to be used by Us and by Them. Contented little Yous in an insulated little world.
You could try to ally yourself to Them. You've seen our codes, and I've revealed a good part of our plans to you. What They wouldn't give for You to point Them in Our direction.
But I suspect you will take the third path. Join Us. Become enlightened. You've each taken the first step in coming here today. It's just one step further and gravity does the rest. Fall into the rabbit-hole. We can protect you. We've been doing so for some time.
I see our time is almost up. Make your decision – I offer you a choice. The Red Pill and the Blue Pill.
Take the Blue Pill and you'll forget everything you learned here today. The songs you hear will be the ramblings of paranoid minds and obsessives. You can go back to your quiet lives and forget that you were ever here. We will go back to being the butt of your jokes and you can go back to Your blissful ignorance.
Take the Red Pill, however, and you will see just how deep the Rabbit Hole goes. The songs you will hear will be the music of Wonderland, and will reveal to you the final secret.
To think, you thought it was Lizards ...
