By Hoshino Sakura
Sakura's hectic day …
Sakura opened the door to Song Bar and stared in horror at what she saw. Everyone seemed to be busy but no progress had been made at all on the preparations for the big event.
“Chuck (Berry) ! ! !” she screamed. “What has been happening? She will be here any time now ! ! !” She stamped her foot petulantly for emphasis (which is a bad habit of hers when angry or sulking).
“I don't know, Sakura,” Chuck replied, shrugging his shoulders. “They are not concentrating, there is Too Much Monkey Business and not enough work going on.”
“Gosh! Do I have to do everything???” Sakura exclaimed, then sighed heavily. “Marvin (Smith), you need to finish cleaning those glasses in the next five minutes ! ! !”
“Sakura it is impossible,” Marvin replied. “Can I Have More Time?”
“OK then, the Average White Band can help, they need Work To Do,” Sakura conceded graciously.
“Gosh ! ! ! Carly (Simon)?” exclaimed Sakura looking at a beautiful woman with gorgeous hair and teeth who was lying prone on the floor. “That is the second time you have fainted today ! ! !”
“Third actually,” came a weak reply, “but I am Coming Around Again now.”
“Just make sure you do not faint when she arrives ! ! !” Sakura snapped back at her.
Sakura stepped outside to compose herself, she looked around The Streets to see if she was coming. “Gosh, It Was Supposed To Be Easy ! ! !” she sighed to herself. She pulled herself up to her full 1m 49cm height, practised stamping her foot a few times, and went back in to the chaos.
“Marvin [Gaye], why have not finished putting out the table cloths?” a desperate Sakura asked the tall handsome man staring dreamily at Carly, (who looked as if she was going to faint again).
“I am sorry Sakura, I was just To Busy Thinking About My Baby.”
“Goodness Marvin, get a grip and man up ! ! !” replied Sakura. “ Look at Cat (Stevens). He went all the way to Matthew and Son without a parent or guardian to collect the pies and fish and chips and he carried them back all on his own ! ! !”
A tall elegant Englishman approached Sakura and politely addressed her.
“Sakura?”
“Yes Joe (Jackson).”
“Have I Got The Time for a cup of tea before she arrives?”
“NOOOOOOO ! ! ! ! !” screamed Sakura, reaching for a steak knife.
Just at that moment the Modern Lovers ran in to the bar.
“We have just come from The Government Center,” they said, gasping for breath. “She is on the way, she will be here any minute!”
“Oh no!” came a feeble wail from somewhere in the crowd, “there are still 20 Million Things To Do.”
“Stop whining, Lowell (George). Now - quick everyone, take your places,” said Sakura, hiding the steak knife.
The clientele and staff of the Song Bar lined up in a row. The door opened and she entered the bar.
“1, 2, 3 altogether now,” whispered Sakura.
“Welcome to the Song Bar, Your Majesty!” everyone said in unison.
And in she walked, slowly, with great dignity, looking distinguished and glamorous. Everyone went quiet and gazed at her in surprise and wonder.
"Hello Sakura!" she said, with a smile.
"Hello Mum!" Sakura replied.
It was Mrs Hoshino's first visit to the Song Bar. She was most amused.
