This synth-krautrock fusion of wonderfully droll apathetic humour comes via the synth-drums duo Danalogue [Dan Leavers] and Betamax [Max Hallett) from The Comet Is Coming, with the uniquely dry delivery of Mancunian sax jazz experimentalist Alabaster dePlume. The single comes from the excellent EP Tactics, which came out in June on Moshi Moshi Records and via Hackney’s Total Refreshment Centre. I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
I was just a bit tired
I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
Just didn’t wanna be rude
Just didn’t wanna be rude
I was gonna fight fascism
But honestly I just had so much on
You literally wouldn’t believe it
I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
But I looked over at Jenny
And I don’t think Jenny was fighting fascism
So I didn’t either
I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
I was gonna
I was gonna
I was gonna fight
I was gonna fight
I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
But no one wants to be that guy
I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
I was gonna
But I just don’t think the left wide political spectrum applies in the modern age
I was gonna fight fascism fascism
I was gonna
I was gonna
Does it make any difference?
Does it make any difference?
Does it make any difference? …
I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
‘Course I was gonna fight
But I was really angry with the other people fighting fascism
So I just went on Facebook and said nasty things instead
I was gonna fight fascism
I was gonna
But well, I was afraid,
A bit, well it sounds funny,
But I didn’t realise it at the time
I didn’t realise, but looking at it now
I was afraid and that’s why I didn’t fight
I was gonna
I was gonna
But it was too late
It was too late
It was too late
It was too late …
