Following Mariana Trench by Bright Eyes, another kind of geological metaphor in the form of old-school northern electro-pop by the young band from West Yorkshire, inspired by the venue Hebdon Bridge Trades Club. The band comprises Sydney Minsky-Sargeant on vocals, Moonlandingz’ Mairead O’Connor on guitar, Drenge’s Rob Graham on synths and bass player Liam Ogburn, now based in Manchester. Their postpunk sound echoes late-70s Sheffield electronic pop such as the Human League, as well as The Fall and Suicide. Working Men’s Club are out on Heavenly Recordings. More of their work can also be found here.
