Brian Eno – The Ship
Originally conceived from experiments with three-dimensional recording techniques and formed in two, interconnected parts, The Ship is almost as much musical novel as traditional album. Eno brings together beautiful songs, minimalist ambience, physical electronics omniscient narratives and technical innovation into a single, cinematic suite. Apparently he even sings on this album! There’s a limited CD version and independent record stores will be stock a clear vinyl version, both available this Friday.
RM Hubbert – Telling The Trees
Hubbert returns with an album of diverse collaborations. Guests include the likes of Rachel Grimes, Eleanor Friedberger, Kathryn Williams, Helen Marnie(Ladytron), Martha Ffion, Karine Polwart and fellow SAY Award winner Kathryn Joseph.
The Dog – RM Hubbert & Kathryn Joseph
Zucchero – Black Cat
Not heard much from the gravel-voiced Italian recently but this sounded like it might be worth a listen given it’s been produced by T Bone Burnett, Brendan O’Brien and Don Was. The album features a collaboration with Bono, Mark Knopfler plays on two tracks and features the first single Turn The World Down written by Elvis Costello.
