Fabulous new LP from Amy Taylor and the Melbourne punk band that again captures their incomparably energetic live shows, here with a mix of humour, anger and some very frank and fertile self-analysis. Taylor’s voice is perfect for high-octane punk - every word rings out as clear as a bell over the thrum and thrash and power of the band, her strong accent adding even more to the flavour. The opening and closing tracks offer a new depth as well as vivid images - on Guided By Angels “The angels guide me heavenly, heavenly
Energy, good energy and bad energy” and on Snakes: “I am just like the snake shed my skin, I want to change, but I know I was raised, I was buck-teeth and pale, I learnt more work than education, it doesn’t mean I’m stupid I just like my independence … now I’m just a famous cunt, ha ha!”. Knifey and No More Tears show a darker side, the latter referring to being “held by the neck” and “not knowing what comes next”. Security meaning offers a refreshingly lighter and enthused side to punk: “Security will you let me in your pub? I'm not looking for trouble, I'm looking for love”, while Hertz is a desperate need to escape lockdown and get to the beach and also seeking affirmation of love, and the short, sharp Freaks To The Front is a hilarious crowd pleaser for any live show. A bottomless pit of driving, demonic energy and fun. Out on Rough Trade.
