“Honey, I’m not doing so well". Impressively candid, clever pop debut capturing a variety of emotional, relationship and sexuality traumas through catchy songwriting by Norway’s Marie Ulven who has already become a bedroom-produced YouTube star. There’s no shortage of self-criticism of her state of mind and frusrated libido on songs such as Serotonin or Hornylovesickmess, addressing her homosexuality, jealousy, and more, while Midnight Love is a rather nicely intimate production of sensitive strings and keyboards as well self-deprecation “I could be your second best close but not your favourite … where your silver is my gold, and the same understated side is shown by more maturity by the 22-year-old with a gentle closing instrumental, It Would Feel Like This. A very promising career beckons. Out on World in Red/AWAL.
