A marriage of south Devon and Sheffield in the form of couple Matt and Lucy Broad and bassist Aubrey Simpson forms this more elevating, richly sonic indie release that has echoes of New Order, krautrock and Cabaret Voltaire-style electro-synth pop. This is a refined, hooky, effervescent and at times ethereal release from the former art-school students, with high, simple but soaring vocal harmonies reminiscent of Django Django. You can hear a variety of pop music strains and influences here. It was mixed and engineered by Dean Honer of Moonlandingz, I Monster and many other projects, and it was mainly recorded in a isolated barn in Devon, but also up Sheffield. Standout tracks include Dr Pong (previously a Song of the Day), Globe, Little Gem, the wistful Under Northern Sky, the krautrocky Tv Flicker and also Champagne, Sing It Like We Used To, and the soft, gentle closing track Chelsea. Souvenir? Certainly one to take home. Out on Full Time Hobby.
