The Attitude Of Gratitude
So much could be said about gratitude, especially in these times. Especially for somebody like me who walks out his door to a rising homeless problem. But in uncharacteristic form I’ll keep it simple and just say, thank you to, and for the music. It has been one of the constant supports in my life. It never abused me. Never flaked. Never cheated, tricked, or lied to me. It is always there when I need it, accepting me as I am.
And so too has the Song Bar and its patrons. Taking me out of my musical lanes to places I probably wouldn’t discover on my own. With all the crazy… this is one of the few oases that isn’t. So I dedicate this week's theme first to the Song Bar community. Thanks, merci, gracias, ありがとう, danke, tack, 谢谢, asante, obrigado, Teşekkürler, ευχαριστώ...
Let’s get to it. I tried keep the A-list tight. That said it was impossible NOT to include William DeVaughn (despite the overwhelming number of fabulous covers) in super hit six spot. Andrew Gold was already on my A-list but officially opens the festivities because well… Betty effing White. Then ABBA because well... nobody saw that highlight coming in 2021.
The B-list is a torrent of gracious odds and ends of various types, speaking to different affectations of affection that my ears happily consumed. The amount of soulful thanks to lovers and to higher powers could get their own dedicated playlists (I’m looking at you Jah). But I tried to create more collective collage of crooning regarding championing credit where credit is due. And as always, I recorded the mix for those who want it all in one without ads.
