A gorgeous, slow track of mid-70s Laurel Canyon-style songwriting by South Carolina’s Ben Schwab, here featuring the vocals of Sam Burton from a forthcoming self-titled album, and inspired by the discovery by Schwab of a box of 1975 tape recordings by his father John’s band, Mad Anthony. Sylvie also features vocalist Marina Allen, with Ben’s father John returning to the microphone to sing on album tracks 505 and Rosaline, along with Connor Gallagher (pedal steel), Sam Kauffman Skloff (drums) and JJ Kirkpatrick (horns) while Ben Schwab plays all other instruments. Out on Full Time Hobby.
To explore more of Sylvie’s music, see also the embedded Bandcamp of the album, available in all formats in October, but as a part download now, and also via the Spotify link.
Itʼs hard my friend you know
To get to the place where you wanna go
To speak your mind
And pick up the pieces you left behind
Itʼs hard my friend you see
To get to the place where you can dream
So far behind
When theres so much youʼve been trying to find
Well here it comes again
And there it goes just like when
You and I
Were Stealinʼ Time
Itʼs hard my friend you know
To get to the place where you wanna go
There’s only so much time
Wonʼt you get out and see what you can find
Well here it comes again
And there it goes just like the wind
Here it comes again
And there it goes just like when
You and I
Were Stealinʼ Time
Stealinʼ Time
