Two numbers from the Scottish composer who has a beguiling ability to mix multiple genres, from classical to pop, and here from her new album FIBS, creates an extraordinary world of beats, electronica and melodies to echo a mix of Saint Etienne and Everything But The Girl. She also has a compelling ability to help create utterly absorbing and complementary videos to accompany these songs, especially, the instrumental track Paramour, directed by Ewan Jones Morris, in which the model train journey’s timing and point of view is a glorious act of electronica timing. Inhale Exhale has a rave euphoria, but is underpinned by lyrics and veer between melancholy and tragedy. More of her work can be found on Bandcamp. Her album is out on Moshi Moshi / Black Prince Fury.
You say you're dancing in the deep end
But to me, it looks like drowning
All this talk of saving, but I'm out of my depth
You say you're turning on the tightrope
But to me, it looks like falling
All this talk of saving, so I'd best watch my step
You say you're trying to find the fire
But to me, it looks like burning
All this talk of saving, and I'm holding my breath
Oh, oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Oh, oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Oh, oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Oh, oh oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Inhale and exhale
Inhale and exhale
Inhale and exhale
Inhale and exhale
You say you're dancing in the deep end
But to me, it looks like drowning
All this talk of saving, but I'm out of my depth
You say you're turning on the tightrope
But to me, it looks like falling
All this talk of saving, so I'd best watch my step.
