To go with the flowering of British weather, let's dream to some electronic psychedelia by the Sheffield-based pair of Dean Holder and Jarrod Gosling from their 2003 album Neveroddoreven and its sampled origins. Using the classic falling bass line, this is actually a very similar rendition to 1970 number by the German group, the Günter Kallman Choir, which had more of a hippie vocal harmony section rather than the distorted voicebox. That in turn is a cover of the original psychedelic 1969 hit by the Belgian group, Wallace Collection. And in the early noughties there were other versions, including by The Beta Band, Skinny and Lupe Fiasco with Jill Scott. But let's enjoy the main three for comparison, but where did the melodies really come from? Not from the UK, Germany or Belgium, but Russia. The main theme is from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, and second theme from the second movement of Tchaikovsky's String Quartet No. 1. So let's hear that too. What dreams are made of.
Daydream
I fell asleep amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day
I dream a dirty dream of you, baby
You're crawling on the bathroom floor
You float around the room and you're naked
Then you're flying out the bedroom door
I dream a dirty dream
I dream a dirty dream
Daydream
I fell asleep amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day
I dream a dirty dream of you, baby
You're swinging from the chandelier
I'm climbing up the walls 'cause I want you
But when I reach you, you disappear
I dream a dirty dream
I dream a dirty dream
I dream a dirty dream
I dream a dirty dream
I dream a dirty dream
Daydream
I fell asleep amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day
Daydream
I fell asleep amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day
