After yesterday's international collaboration, another African and Latin jazz groove but this time all played in the same location, putting some heavier brass meat on the bones and a Fela Kuti 1977 classic. The song itself, mainly instrumental, is all about people from different cultures coming together, and this again matches form and content as Newen Afrobeat, a band from Chile formed in 2009, are joined by Fela Kuti's youngest son, Seun (lead vocals) and brother to Femi. Alongside the Nigerian is Mali's Cheick Tidiane Seck on keyboards, the musician and composer who has worked with many of the artists profiled. Joined also by the Egypt 80 band, this recordings are from February 2016 in La Makinita, after the various musicians performed at a Womad festival in 2015. The brilliance of this track is how it builds so infectiously, and is given greater weight by the brass section, echoing some of the power and energy of 1960s Charles Mingus.
