“I wake up every morning and I run, I run for my life.” It’s a phrase that could apply to many lives and situations, but this new Afrobeat/soul/electronica number by the deep, gravelly voiced London-based Nigerian, is topical. While there are many more dangers in life to face, running or walking 10km each day helps maintain physical and mental health of many people during the world health crisis of Covid-19. The 10k of course can just as likely refer to 10,000 units of money, and all the dangers, stress, and competition that might accompany it.
Everything is burning, look around you
You better run
Run for your life
9 to 5, 5 to 9
24 7, 365
I wake up and I shame the devil
I wake up and I get this cash
I don't kick back, I never settle
There's No excuses for empty hands
Green is ruthless, it don't respect you, your creed or colour
Get what you can
If you don't run, you're in my way
If you don't run, I'll take your place
Everything is changing at lightning speed
And it's all for the taking, not for free
