After Senegal's Youssou N'Dour, let's hand over to yet another giant of African music, again from Mali, the royal 'Golden Voice', from his 2002 album Moffou. This is traditional West African dance music at its infectious best, including the brilliant guitar work of Djeli Moussa Kouyaté. Keita's music includes balafons, djembes, guitars, koras, organs, saxophones, and synthesizers and a lively female backing group calling after Keita's high, piercing voice. This song, which, sounds improvised but is as tight as a drum, became a huge hit when remixed by the French DJ Martin Solveig, but let's enjoy the more authentic original version co-written with Guinea's Manfila Kante.
