Beverly was one of you first black students at McGill University in Montreal where he studied music, and also later a the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He has lived in Canada the last four decades and has had a rich and varied career in music since 1970, from being a writer for Sesame Street to working jazz, classical, and blues and spirituals.
