A beautifully atmospheric release by Amelia Baker’s experimental folk project about a human spending a night with a selkie-like vision who comes out of the water. A selkie is a Celtic and Norse mythological seal-folk creature. Baker is influenced by her upbringing on the hazy California coast and the stormy seas of living west-coast Ireland. This is also the opening track from the forthcoming new album, Cadence, also shown below. To enjoy more by Cinder Well, see also the other links below. Out on Free Dirt Records.
Crick in the side of the frozen moon
Is a lake the size of our sunken room
We weathered the night in a drunken croon
Another trick in the tide and you’re gone too soon
Cave on the shore
In moonlight, I saw her
Two heads, grey mare
Hunted shadow
Crick in the side of the frozen moon
Is a lake the size of our sunken room
We weathered the night in a drunken croon
Trick in the tidе and you’re gone too soon
You old ancient forеst
You old ancient forest
What are you aging for
What are you aging for
Crick in the side of the frozen moon
Is a lake the size of our sunken room
We weathered the night in a drunken croon
Another trick in the tide and you’re gone too soon
Open, closing
You’re not going
In shadows, only shadows
Here’s hoping you’re not going
In shadow, only shadow
