Covering a folk tune both beautiful and oddly disturbing, the Bristol singer-songwriter is joined by collaborators with this fertility rite song from Robin Hardy’s The Wicker Man (1973) from a new EP with other songs from the cult British horror film. The song, inspired by traditional folk, was written by Paul Giovanni. The original scene shows naked young women dancing around and leaping over a fire in a circle with a pregnant woman present, while a shocked Christian police officer, Sgt. Neil Howie, played by Edward Woodwood, passes by on a horse and cart. Out on Heavenly Recordings.
The rest of the EP and a clip from the film is also shown here. To explore more releases by Katy, see also the last embedded link below.
Take the flame inside you
Burn and burn below
Fire seed and fire feed
To make the baby grow
Take the flame inside you
Burn and burn belay
Fire seed and fire feed
To make the baby stay
Take the flame inside you
Burn and burn belong
Fire seed and fire feed
And make the baby strong
Take the flame inside you
Burn and burn belie
Fire seed and fire feed
To make the baby cry
Take the flame inside you
Burn and burn begin
Fire seed and fire feed
To make the baby King
