A mightily catchy and soulful fusion of West Africa folk and London electronica as Guinea singer Falle Nioke joins up with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard in their debut single, one about Falle’s melancholy in missing his homeland. As he puts it: “I am singing to my brothers. It is about the sadness I feel leaving my home country because of a lack of opportunity there and being unable to return home for a long time.” N’Deko is translated into English as Cousins.
Alexis and Owen from Hot Chip also contributed some of the supersize synth chords on this track. To see more music by Falle, Joe or Hot Chip, use also the other embedded links below. Out on Greco-Roman Records.
Big brothers, don't be angry with me
You know that exile is not easy
I don't have opportunity
That why I have not come home
