A beautiful folk-pop number with acoustic guitar and layered vocal harmonies about dealing with the challenges of change and allowing yourself to awaken and embrace this, by the singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. Out on Sub Pop. Shannon has a great diversity in her styles. She has released three solo albums and was a member of the band Feels, and well as touring in Ty Segall’s band, so leaps between full-on rock and punk, to the purest and gentlest of folk, as in this song, which has more akin to the work of Nick Drake. I’ll miss the sea
but i’m longing to grow
without change.
Something sleeps inside us
Rare to wake
Rare to wake
sleeper must awaken
have you always been who you are?
without change
something sleeps inside us
Rare to wake
Rare to wake
I will miss my home
but i’m longing to grow
i will miss my pain
but i have to make way
for something better
without change
something sleeps inside us
Rare to wake
Rare to wake
Have you always been who you are?
I will notice where my tracks are laid
I will ask if they serve me
I will see
and agree
to receive
all I need.
Have I always been who I am?
without change
something sleeps inside us.
Rare to wake
Rare to wake
Have you always been who you are?
