Neil Young – Peace Trail
Yet another 2016 album from rock's grumpy old man – what are they putting in his tea? Peace Trail features 10 sparse and primarily acoustic songs that Young wrote since the release of his album Earth in June. The album was recorded at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studios and was produced by Young and John Hanlon. The line-up features Young on vocals and guitar, Jim Keltner on drums, and Paul Bushnell on bass. Vinyl format is not out until 6 January.

Felice Brothers – Country Ham
The Felice Brothers offer a Christmas present to their fans ( and the donation of proceeds to a food bank) with this special 45 (the other track is Murder by Mistletoe) - originally released last Christmas but has only made it over here on vinyl for this festive season.

Blueneck – The Outpost
Blueneck have been at forefront of the European underground music scene since forming in 2000. Their sixth album follows on from support slots for the likes of Cult of Luna and Mono and showcases an atmospheric take on their melodic sound, as well as Duncan Attwood’s inimitable vocals.

Dec 99th – December 99th
Hip hop innovator, actor, political activist and scourge of Guantanamo Bay, formerly Mos Def, now known as Yasiin Bey, joins forces as Dec 99th with Chicago producer Ferrari Sheppard, finally releasing a nine-track album after a series of singles exclusively on Tidal. The work was reportedly done in South Africa while Bey was stuck in the country facing visa problems. It's strange, experimental, slowish, sparse stuff, more trip hop than anything else, but with some unusual samples.

Peter Broderick – Grunewald
Another great artist on the Erased Tapes label. Recorded in just one night at the Grunewald Church on the outskirts of Berlin, this five-track EP is an exploration of the alluring partnership between the acoustic space and Broderick's solo performance on piano and violin. Reflecting the grandeur of the room and the natural interaction between the instruments and their surrounding environment, Grunewald pays homage to a very unusual space that's become a haven for an entire generation of contemporary composers.
