Electro noise rock, progressive gothic post-punk? Whatever the genre label, a striking blast of a new LP by the New York band fronted by Oliver Ackermann now with newer members, frenetic drummer Sandra Fedowitz and thrumming bass from John Fedowitz. It’s a wonderfully thunderously racket with feedback, buzzing guitars, echoing, distorted, swaggering vocals and fast, clanking electronic patterns, brimming with vim and energy, with the momentum fizzing throughout. Standout tracks include I’m Hurt, Nice of You To Be There For Me, the blistering Anyone But You and Dragged In A Hole, Hold On Tight and Let’s See Each Other, but much more besides, echoing elements of Suicide,The Kramps, The Fall and Pixies, this is an album to really blow away the cobwebs. Out on DedStrange Records.
