Working without Will Gregory for the first time in her 25-year career, Alison strikes out with catchy breathy bangers of synth disco and electro-pop with help from producers Richard X and James Greenwood (aka Ghost Culture). The result is somewhere between Kylie Minogue and Róisín Murphy, a shimmering disco ball of polished production and undeniable danceability under the guise of, as introduced on the title track, Alison Goldfrapp, house diva. It’s hugely fun, if often a little samey but other standouts include the delicate bubbling beats and notes of Digging Deeper now, the quieter, more intimate tracks Hotel, and In Electric Blue, and Gatto Gelato. The second disc also includes remix and extended versions including guests Röksopp on Impossible, Claptone on Digging Deeper and Paul Woolford on Fever. Out on BMG.
