Beautiful, acoustic otherworldliness aplenty in this fourth album by the California singer-songwriter in a realm of tender songs of gentle fingerpicking ethereal, whispery falsetto, glass xylophone, flutes, mellotron, oddball sound effects and animation. There are obvious parallels in style with friend Sufjan Stevens with whom Angelo has previously collaborated (2021’s A Beginner’s Mind) and on whose label this is a gorgeous release comes. Standouts include previous Song of The Day The Ballad of Betty and Barney Hill, Another Universe, Memory Palace, Home Town, The Painter, and the title track. But there are many other moments to cherish on this little gem of an album, such as the gentle surreal splashings of the short track Healing Waters. Delicate, melancholy and beautiful work. Out on Asthmatic Kitty Records.
