Strong, confident indie rock debut by Los Angeles’ Sabrina Teitelbaum, with a set of powerfully candid numbers of full-on guitar, tender, emotional vocals, wrestling delusion and self-destructive relationships. She previously performed as under the name Baum but seems to found a recharged energy and urgency with this new moniker. Standouts include the explosive opener Veronica Mars (named after a 00s detective series) the slow but sure Olympus, the alcohol relationship - Sober Together, the thunderous revenge number, Salad, the searingly ironic killer lines of Sepsis (“we both know he’s a dick …”), and on Tarmac, the admission that “I’m in love with a feeling / Not with anyone or any real thing”. A strong talent now really finding her voice. Out on Partisan Records.
