An alluring, eclectic, eccentric jazz-pop electronica LP by the London-based singer-songwriter and Zebrah flautist Pauline Janier who brings a diverse set of sounds and musicians into this enthrallingly odd release. Immediate standout is the high-octane energetic funky mix of dance music, brass and flighty strings and vocals on Make A Wish. But there’s also the more krautrock momentum of the flute-flavoured I Tried To Please, the dream-like ripping strings and ghostly vocals of Salt and Sweet, the beautifully minimal The Flute Opening, all the way the more proggy folk of closer You Don’t Need To Cry. Experimental, and oddly stimulating. Produced by Basile Lacroix-Boettcher. Out on The Pepper House.
