Truly original and arresting cross-genre electronica-postpunk-hip-hop by the Glasgow sibling duo of vocalist and transwoman Natalie and brother Sean McGhee who caustically challenge gender norms and ideas of beauty. Standouts include the punchy Real Woman and former Song of the Day Wild and Fragile with its jittery, sweeping strings and explosive drums and of course Natalie’s sharp and liberating lyrics. Slickly delivered, witty, articulate, beat-driven and attention-grabbing, this is highly potent work, and as well as these two singles, check out also opener Billionaire Potential, Normal Til It’s Not, No Honest Work, Never Been Ignorant, and Same Shite, Different Lad, though there’s oodles of quirkiness and originality throughout this excellent LP and follow-up to their EP, All Fears, Fully Formed. Out on FatCat Records.
