Rolling back the years to classic 70s Laurel Canyon songwriting with echoes of the Byrds and Beach Boys, the multi-talented New York brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario return with a fourth that’s perhaps their best since 2016 debut Do Hollywood. There’s a beautiful melancholy to their delivery and vocal harmonies, especially the richly layered acoustic guitar number Everyday Is The Worst Day of My Life, but perhaps the standout is the gorgeously bittersweet Corner Of My Eye. Other highlights include Any Time of Day, In My Head, the rock number What You Were Doing, and the harpsichord-infused and grandly orchestrated breakup number, What Happens to a Heart. Like musicians who have just arrived in a time machine from 1972, it’s hard to beat these singing brothers and multi-instrumentalists for their powerful, timeless chord changes and melodies.
