A gorgeous, sun-dappled, atmospheric seventh album recorded in Spain by the Irish singer-songwriter with a cinematic concept of songs of different sequences, moving backwards and forwards, and featuring actress Anna Friel on guest backing vocals. Friel certain adds to the floaty beauty of the title track, and on this track Regan describes capturing roads at night in Deia, Mallorca and the quality of that region’s light. Opener Islands in fact contains the line: “I float sometimes when you’re around.” There’s a dream-like, otherworldly aura throughout, images flitting, an airiness, a blissful sense of escape, shimmering with poetic mystery and bolstered by a sustained feel for musical atmosphere and shape. Other standouts include Blood Is Thicker Than Wine, the celestial feel of Anja I and Anja II, Farewell, Headphones, and closer Deia Song/Illucalcari. Light and effortless, drifting on ethereality. Out on Nettwerk Records.
