This wonderful third album by the Melbourne band is a free-flowing beauty - like a butterfly garden of jazz, soul as well as Brazilian influences from time spent with veteran composer Arthur Verocai and Amazonian indigenous Varinawa communities. Every track is a gem, from opener Flight Of The Tiger Lily to the flute and voice minimalism of short track Hush Rattle. The single Get Sun as hints of Duke Ellington’s Caravan. The quartet, led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Naomi ‘Nai Palm’ Saalfield mix gorgeous vocals with a variety of orchestral and electronic instruments, and among other standouts are the funk-soul Chivalry Is Not Dead, the minimalistic funk of Red Room, or the piano-led ballad Stone Or Lavender. What’s more, the consistency of this work, despite being interrupted by lockdown as well as Nai Palm dealing breast cancer, add to why it’s even more outstanding from start to finish. Out on Brainfeeder/Ninja Tune.
