Superbly energised fourth LP by the afro-funk London band fronted by vocalist Eno Williams, who utilises her Nigerian heritage and the Ibibio language, fused with guitars, electronica, Brazilian rhythms and influences from Fela Kuti to Kraftwerk and Giorgio Moroder. An album to bring any listener to their feet with its non-stop dexterity, inventiveness and energy, mixing disco and funk, and, especially as the album progresses with an almost non-stop momentum, but also starting so strongly with several standouts numbers. These include the Covid-reaction number Protection from Evil with Eno’s rapid fire vocals, the title track, the brilliant All That You Want, 17 18 19, which has echoes of Grace Jones in her prime, and Something We’ll Remember. Electrifying in every way. Out on Merge Records. Always worth catching live – for details, see their website.
