This fourth solo album by the Swedish-Argentinian indie folk singer-songwriter and guitarist is filled with beautiful stillness, gentle intimacy and acoustic playing, birdsong, a wonder of nature, and sense of how tiny we are in a vast universe. He seamlessly switches between English and Spanish. Standout song Visions gives off a sense of exquisite helplessness. El Invento, sung in Spanish, and The Void, are perhaps the most beautiful, and here González sounds like a one-man Simon and Garfunkel. Horizons has intricately spidery fingering, while the slow, tragic Line of Fire is full of melancholy. Unhurriedly releasing only his fourth solo LP in 17 years, his is a sophisticated tapestry of texture, technique and melody that echoes Nick Drake and Cat Stevens. Out on Imperial Recordings / City Slang.
