An emotionally candid, tender, vulnerable and quietly declamatory fourth album by the writer-all-rounder, mixing hip-hop and spoken word with electronica and pop, with some nicely chosen guest appearances. Standouts are Salt Coast, a love song to a floundering Britain, stained with melancholy but packed with vivid images; These Are The Days with additional guitar and drums, a particularly strong, introspective track about the child within the adult that then morphs into the next, Smoking, with that summons memories of her mother and has additional rapping by guest Confucius MC; the punchy More Pressure with guest rapper Kevin Abstract; No Prizes with the superbly complementary voice of Lianne La Havas, and I Saw Light with a spoken section by Fontaine DC’s frontman Grian Chatten. Again produced by the brilliant Dan Carey, this more personal, introspective release still has plenty of bite, and some ear-catching musicality. Out on American Recordings/ Republic / UMG.
