A third jazz-funk tour de force LP of outstanding musicianship, infinite energy, humour and invention by the LA duo of singer Genevieve Artadi and genius drummer and multi-instrumentalist Louis Cole joined by a host of brilliant players. These include Rai Thistlethwayte on keyboards, Mononeon on bass and Sam Gendel on saxophone, who have several excellent solo moments, but the music also often expands into brass and mini-orchestra, as shown on their delightful DIY videos. Standout tracks include the brassy, bouncy single I’m The President, the humorously sweary The Abyss, and the slower Crash The Car, but there’s so much more here to enjoy, underpinned by the pair’s heady mix of sharp, dark, deadpan irony and unrelenting enthusiasm, with numbers such as Nightmare (“When world is not so nice / Nightmare / See you there tonight”), Real Nice Moment (“Golden touch of failure / Got us there / Real nice moment”), Do Hot Girls Like Chords (“Do reflections have backs? Does purgatory have snacks?”) and It’s All Nothing Until It’s Everything. Released via Bandcamp with vinyl crowdfunding.
