The American singer-songwriter returns with a third album of ethereal alternative folk-pop, inspired by moving from the bright lights of LA to the calm of the family Virginia farm and polarities of country-city, humanity-technology, solitude- relationship. While her second album Acquainted With Night, was inspired by the bright lights of LA, this release has gentler twinkles, particularly on tracks such as the incantational In Verona (in reference to the divisive families of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet), Must Be Tears and If I Had Wings. More upbeat, yet always otherworldly pop comes with the wonderful singles, the eco-themed I Am A River (a former Song of the Day), and Faster Than The Medicine, featuring a drum machine within Neale’s signature Omnichord in a number that gallops across a misty imagined English countryside. An exquisite, minimalist, otherworldly escape. Out on Sub Pop.
