On a smaller, more intimate scale than previous album Hifalutin, as previewed on Song of the Day, Seasons, the Danish experimental quintet’s new album is filled sensitive, vulnerable, textured, beautifully building electro-folk-pop. There’s a running theme of friendship, family, positivity, comfort, support, and re-finding your roots post-pandemic. Soffie Viemose’s gentle voice expresses a fragile, melancholy, bittersweet meditation. There are some oddities, such as the voice distortions on the somewhat saccharine You Are Good And I Love You, but standouts include the slightly later Radiohead-ish Seasons, The Fish, Keep Up The Good Work after the initial build of supportive messaged voices and ambience, Mouth, and Took A Day Off Feeling Sad. An album for a duvet day, when you’re feeling fragile and sensitive, and one to sip with tea with. Out on Bella Union.
