A serenely beautiful third album by the Italian composer and instrumentalist with a cinematic, symphonic work of 17 tracks over three sections, largely with piano and strings, but with sprinklings of electronica and guest vocalists. That includes Silence, featuring Parisian singer Soko, who brings a breathy, subtle, tender performance capturing a sense of fragility within the soaring string accompaniment, while deep tones of Tom Smith offers more dramatic performance on the emotional We Fall In. The overall feel of the album is set within the first two tracks, Adore, and Beautiful As A Memory, so as a long listen, it feels like a walk on wide, beach-like landscape of piano arpeggios and strings such as on Malinconica (6/5/1917), but there’s joyous sonic variations with the ripples of Before You Go, the syncopations of Fireworks, A New Dress or or the stirring evolution into beats on Ready For Life. Overall, an alluring, subtle, often exquisite, evocative, narrative-conjuring work, perfect for a walk in the woods or a quite fireside evening. Out on Decca France / Universal.
