Shamir – Revelations
Texan singer Shamir Bailey is still only 22, and is clearly still exploring his oeuvre. After 2014’s remarkably fresh and original pop single On The Regular, and signing to XL Recordings with two albums, this third release is a more far more downbeat, indie affair, but he still writing about androgyny and sexual identity. Straight Boy cuts a strong message lyrically, even if this new stripped-back musical style is less striking than his previous work and 90s Kids presents a homemade, angsty style.

Autobahn – The Moral Crossing
Tough Love Records release the Leeds band’s album with their own brand of post-punk goth rock, with a swirl of solid more electronic northern influences from Kraftwerk-style early Human League to New Order. A worthy mixture worth checking out.

Fat Boy Slim – Eat Mash Rave Repeat
New single from Norman noteworthy not just for the song titles but for a decidedly retro vinyl release featuring "a vanilla flavoured and scented edible insert"!

Lomond Campbell – Black River Promise
Upping sticks from Edinburgh to an asbestos-lined schoolhouse near Ben Nevis has been a great source of inspiration for Campbell. The pastoral sound is melancholic at times but there's uplifting themes here as well, augmented by a 10-piece string section.
