The acclaimed British tenor saxophonist, bandleader, composer and a star in the bright constellation of the London jazz scene returns with a cosmic creation of complex, beautiful blends and orchestral arrangements with added sparkles of R&B, jazz and dub with a stellar cast of players. Produced in collaboration with Kwes, they include Joe Armon-Jones (Ezra Collective pianist), Daniel Casimir (bass), Sam Jones (drums), singers Esperanza Spalding and Georgia Anne Muldrow and Chineke! Orchestra. This is another dynamic creation by Garcia, marked in particular by her scoring of strings, the primary sound in pizzicato style Water’s Path with serene cello, but also on The Seer, alongside Jones’ pacy drums, and Garcia and Armon-Jones in full-flight. But perhaps as well as the title track, which ripples stylishly on a journey in all sorts of ways, is the sublime interweaving and build of melodies on Clarity. A thing of beauty. Out on Concord Jazz.
