After a series of excellent singles, a very welcome debut LP at last of charming, catchy, indie pop by the mischievous trio from Chester, songs addressing many ongoing concerns from relationships to social media with down-to-earth common sense and a call for general social decency. Standout Kaizen, says bass player and singer Jess, “is a song to remind myself that with every act of kindness and every crime, we affect the future, and that those choices go on to shape others, and our beautiful planet, long after we’re gone.” Irl, standing for in real life, addresses the issue of craving for digital validation. Worry, How I’m Feeling and Girl Relax are just some several other tuneful, a lot more than likeable numbers. If only all Peaness’s could behave this way. Out on Totally Snick Records.
