The alias of American composer and high-voiced performer Mike Hadreas returns with profound, strange, compelling experimental pieces, ranging from ambience to electronica to pop with range of instruments and styles including chimes, Mellotron, celeste, guitarrón, and reggae syncopation. Accompanied by a film Pymalion’s Ugly Season (see below) made by experimental artist and director Jacolby Satterwhite, and the music, previously unreleased, was originally commissioned by the Seattle Theatre Group and Mass MoCA and was performed via residencies in Seattle, Minneapolis, New York City and Boston. Standouts include the mischievously titled Pop Song, Eye In The Wall, the syncopated Ugly Season, the juddery, disturbing Hellbent, and the ghostly opener Just A Room. As ever, a fascinating innovator, again pushing the boundaries. Out via Bandcamp and Matador Records.
