Breezy, buoyant, musically breathless upbeat but also wistful indie with notes of folk, country and highlife, Bhundu Boys-esque guitars and fast-fill drumming by the Glasgow band formed by Ray Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers. Returning after a five-year break, their tender, melancholy love-song lyrics and melodies accompany this flurry of super-tight musicianship in whirlwind of 11 songs across 30 minutes, with added banjo (played by Aggs’ father), trumpet, violin and more, some emotional echoes of Belle & Sebastian, country and gentle post-punk. Highlights including the title track, Save Something, Turn Me Down, Fall For You, Another Day, Simple Feeling (with particularly complex, tumbling rhythms), Ask Myself and Winter. An agile, uplifting, familiar yet also fresh breath of air. Life throws out ups and downs, but there’s no time to speculate - just jump in and enjoy the momentum. Out on Rock Action Records / Merge Records.
