A very welcome return after five years from Wales’s Stephen Black, who having worked with Gruff Rhys, Cate Le Bon and others, releases a new selection of beautiful, gentle folk rock songs of delicious melody, creativity and sensitivity. Filled with gentle dark humour, but also optimism, and a deceptive, matter-of-fact simplicity, there are many moments to cherish here, but particular standouts are the gorgeous Good Luck, The Worry, The Wreckage, Hopeless, and Horticulture. A very talented songwriter who has quietly influenced many others. Gorgeous songs. Out on Amazing Tapes From Canton.
