Almost exactly a year since their acclaimed Everything Harmony album, the New York all-singing multi-instrumentalist brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario return with sparkling selection of originals particularly influenced by the 60s and early 70s, echoing The Hollies to The Beach Boys to Todd Rundgren. It really is musically transportive, with many highlights such as the Brian Wilson-style vocal harmonies, especially on Sweet Vibration and the spring-in-your step Church Bells, the beautifully sweet, wistful opener My Golden Years, as well as the title track. Then there’s They Don’t Know How To Fall In Place (60s-psych with harpsichord-style keyboards), mid-60s Beatles sounds on Peppermint Roses, to How Can I Love Her More?, ending in the more 70s glam-rock closer Rock On (Over and Over). Highly derivative, but filled with delights, created with delicious, seemingly effortless original melodies and clever instrumentation. The multi-talented brothers really do seem from another era – and there’s no doubting they are the real deal. Out on Captured Tracks.
