Nothing can compare to last year’s superbly crafted LP Ignorance, but Toronto’s Tamara Lindeman returns with a still powerful, if more pared-back LP of delicacy and intimacy of voice, piano and minimal orchestration in songs recorded over three days. Suffused with melancholy and intelligence, Lindeman’s voice and melodies have parallels, albeit on piano, not guitar, with Joni Mitchell here - exposed, fragile and sensitive, sometimes almost whispered, always fluttering into lesser trodden paths. A different project to Ignorance but hushed and powerful across all 10 songs. Standouts include Endless Time, To Talk About, Marsh, Loving You, and Sleight of Hand. Out on Fat Possum.
