After A Quiet Place by Garnet Mimms, more neighbour disturbance with a ‘68 rocksteady classic inspired by another song penned by Paul Witt, and then an electronic landmark sung by Horace Andy from 1998’s album Mezzanine. John Holt’s song, with an exquisite rhythm and light touch, tells of the “fuss and fight” coming from the man next door. His song has had different titles on variously releases, including also Quiet Place. Many other bands have covered it since, including Dennis Brown and UB40, but lMassive Attack’s version gave it a whole new edge, and included a sampled drum part from Led Zeppelin’s When The Levee Breaks.
There is a man that live next door
In my neighbourhood
In my neighbourhood
He gets me down...
He gets in so late at night
Always a fuss and fight
Always a fuss and fight
All through the night
I've got to get away from here
This is not a place for me to stay
I've got to take my family
And find a quiet place
Hear the pots and pans they fall
Bang against the wall
Bang against the wall
No rest at all
I've got to get away from here
This is not a place for me to stay
I've got to take my family
And find a quiet place
Hear the pots and pans they fall
Bang against the wall
Bang against the wall
No rest at all
I've got to get away now
I've got to get away
I've got to get away now
I've got to get away
