Sunny but bittersweet, this new folk-pop song infused with French new-wave is by the Tel Aviv-based singer-songwriter, with a theme based on the idea that while you may find love and a home, it could also cause others suffering. As she puts it: “It is a song about believing you will recognise the things you're looking for when you come across them, things like love and a home; and about growing up and realising not only that your reality was a fantasy, but also that your actions were hurting other people.” This version is a reworking of the track on Kama’s forthcoming album Moonticket, released in November.
Her influences include Emily Dickenson, Molly Drake, Nico, Tom Waits and Joni Mitchell. More of Kama Vardi’s work can be enjoyed here.
