Song of the Day returns with a pair of extraordinary, experimental songs from the San Francisco psych band of Cole Berliner and Dylan Hadley from their 2019 debut album Good Boy.. Sharpie Smile is marked by a bizarrely tone-bendy bass sound, escaping all notions of key signature, capturing a surreal world of altered perceptions and offbeat humour. The quieter Tucan’s Nose has echoes of Cate Le Bon’s delivery, and while both tracks have echoes of Siouxsie & the Banshees and Captain Beefheart (now that’s a combination) Kamikaze Palm Tree have clearly established a uniquely wonderful style of their own. More of their work can be heard and bought from Bandcamp.
