Following Kamikaze Palm Tree we turn a new leaf towards the psych rock band fronted by Nick Saloman from their latest, 23rd studio album, We’re Your Friends, Man. Marked by a powerful melody and chorus, sitar opening, and dark, darkly mysterious lyrics that centre of worst-case scenarios, this sample song is one of hundreds of strong guitar and lyrically rich examples by the musician from Walthamstow, east London, who formed the band in 1986, and was an old schoolfriend of Adam Ant. More tracks from the album can be heard and bought here via Bancamp and Fire Records.
Bad vibes and diatribes
All sourdough and sneer
Born wrong and over long
But everyone enters here
But one day not long from now
We will drive down dusty tracks
And returning to innocence
And relax …
Nurse Hyde felt dissatisfied
Lost her appetite for revenge
She sat tight in the candlelight
Where she used to bite for her friends
But one day not long from now
She will wake up on her back
She will long for the taste of blood
And relax …
Young Rip with a landing strip
You have affluence on your side
Hard times are for other guys
If the engine dies, you’ll just glide
But one day not long from now
When your skin tone turns to wax
Just prepare for the unthinkable
And relax …
